EON: Gemstone Heroes is an original top-down MOBA focused on fast-paced, ability-driven combat and strong visual clarity. The goal of the project was to take the readability and immediacy of hero-based games and combine it with the strategic depth of a MOBA, while keeping matches dynamic and engaging from start to finish.
As the lead developer, I was responsible for building the game from the ground up - designing core gameplay systems, implementing mechanics, and shaping the overall player experience. A major focus was on game feel and clarity: making abilities responsive, effects readable, and combat easy to understand even in chaotic situations.
The design centers around:
Distinct heroes with unique abilities and clearly defined roles
Ability-driven combat, where timing, positioning, and skill usage matter more than passive stats
Clean visual communication, ensuring players can quickly read what’s happening on screen
Balanced, fast iteration, allowing systems and mechanics to evolve based on testing
I worked across multiple areas of development, including gameplay scripting, UI, map design, animation, and balancing. The project was built with an iterative approach - rapid prototyping, playtesting, and continuous refinement to improve both mechanics and player experience.
EON: Gemstone Heroes reflects my focus on designing systems that are intuitive at first glance but offer depth through mastery, with a strong emphasis on responsiveness, clarity, and satisfying gameplay.
